Commonly Asked Lash Extension Questions:

What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are a trending new service that involves bonding silk, mink or synthetic lashes onto your own natural lashes.  The results are a longer, thicker, fuller, more dramatic look and all without the use of mascara! Lash Extensions have gained a tremendous amount of popularity in the last couple of years, especially since so many celebrities are now wearing them.  The finished look is unbelievably natural, in fact, most will never believe they are not yours!

What do I do to prepare for  my lash extension appointment?
Newly applied Lash Extensions should not be wet within the first 24 hours, so please arrive with clean lashes.  All mascara and eye makeup should be thoroughly removed.

How are eyelash extensions applied?
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are applied one by one to your own isolated, individual natural lashes to create a customized look.  The extensions are single eyelash strands that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash and are attached using a special long lasting waterproof bonding agent.  The extension are available in varying lengths and thickness depending on the desired look of the individual. The result is thicker, longer, eye opening eyelashes that are safe in the shower, while swimming, sleeping or exercising. There is no need for mascara, though water based mascara is fine to use.

How long do they last?
With proper care and touchup visits they will last indefinitely.  Normally a person’s natural eyelash falls out every 60-90 days and a new lash grows in immediately. Therefore, it is necessary to get touch-ups to fill in the fallen lashes. Every 2 to 3 weeks is recommended, however, this will vary from person to person depending on how well you maintain them, your daily activities and where you are in your lash cycle.  Your natural lash cycle and how you take care of your lashes will affect how long they last.

Can I add mascara to my eyelash extensions?
Yes, even though mascara is not required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara, it can be worn, but is not recommended with Volume Lashes. It must however only be water based mascara. Do not use oil-based or waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil-based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

  • DO NOT get lashes wet within the first 24 hours
  • Avoid hot steam or sauna
  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes
  • Do not rub your eyes
  • If you choose to wear mascara, use water-based mascara only (not recommended with Volume Lashes)
  • If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area (not recommended with Volume Lashes)
  • Use water-based eye makeup remover
  • Do not perm your lashes
  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
  • Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)
